The FC311B-20 is a gigabit media converter designed for extending network connectivity over fiber optic cable. It connects standard 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet equipment to single-mode fiber infrastructure, making it ideal for long-distance network extensions where copper cabling is impractical. This converter uses WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology to transmit and receive data simultaneously on a single fiber strand, reducing cabling requirements and installation complexity.
